Today was the big day! Most of what we have done this trip has been passing out flyers or just raising awareness for Damascus Road International church, and this morning was the first service! We had about 20 people, not including our 18, show up!! The worship was great. It was nice to see all of the people sitting through the first few songs and then getting into it and worshiping God full out! Then over offering our team played a song, shout out to Ryan-great job!! J (Ally got to use PJeff’s camera!! Heheheee, muahhaha!!) Pastor Kent talked about promises, it was a tad scary cause that’s exactly what Pastor Wayde talked about right before we left!! They loved when we did Now Behold the Lamb & Healer. Afterwards we had coffee and cookies while having a chance to converse with everyone. We were talking for a few hours! It was nice to see people stick around to hang out and not rush of as soon as the pastor dismisses service. “Tear down was strenuous due to much heavy lifting” says Justin. All in all it was an amazing service and we consider it a great victory for the Kingdom.
As soon as we were all packed up, we headed out on a long journey to discover the mysterious wonder of ancient caves. “The spelunker headlight would have been a great idea right about at this part, dad…” says Zach to Tucker. These caves were dug out by the farmers who owned the hill a lonnggg time ago. They were used to hide from Napoleon, and several Jews escaped through them in WWII. So there were ovens and an ultra deep well for survival. P Jeff owned the tour guide when he said that there were tours being given for 110 years, but if there were WWII people hiding in the caves how was it possible? The poor guy didn’t know what to do! Hahaha! When we got deep in the caves the tour guide asked if we wanted to find out how dark it was. All the people with lights went ahead of the group and we all touched the wall trying to find the light. As you can imagine, this was a loud event filled with screaming girls(but our silly bands were glowing J). There was really old artwork and fossils everywhere in these caves. We made it out safely and with everyone(even though PJeff and Ally almost got left behind while being artistic J). We were headed to a tower that overlooked the whole city. Can I just say, “We can walk that!” It was like our grandparents stories. Uphill both ways, covered in dung, at least 2 ½ miles to get there, and we missed our turn, so we were kinda lost momentarily. When we got there we had to walk up a zillion steps. “I’m trying to decide if this is a missions trip or boot camp!”-Says Ally while gasping for air at the top of the tower. The view was amazing! We took tons of pictures and did Jai Ho, just for “funzies”. Finally it was time to walk down hill through dung…again. Woohoo! No, it was totally worth the walk! Anyways, we get down the hill to this traditional Dutch restaurant where we ate pancakes! So many kinds! Who knew so many existed! Bacon and cheese, fruit, apple cinnamon, and even more, like woa! And then we walked some more(we are going to be in such great shape) back to the hostel. Matt and Glory gave some of us rides on their bikes, but most of us walked while laughing hysterically because that’s what we do best J.
Shout out to all the Fathers out there, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!

Zach – I know this was supposed to be a Father’s Day shout out, but seriously, who do you think will talk your dad into making those wings for you? Hmmm? Here’s a hint: She’s the one writing this note! Still not sure? She signs your check every week! Now you know, huh?
Love you, and all your little friends, too!
Peter – Saw your mom and little brother today at Italian Oven. They looked to be enjoying themselves with alot of good Italian food. Isn’t it funny how when you are out of the country, your family goes out to gorge themselves on good food? We do that to our kids too!
Hey everyone!!!
Reading these are making me miss Turks and everyone at Frequency like crazy! I have loved hearing about the awesome things you are doing and how you have been letting God use you to impact so many people. Keep it up!!
Love and miss you all!
Delia
p.s. Ally- Hey Daughter!
Cherith and Maddy- I know this shouldn’t be an issue there but…watch out for SAND IN PLACES! lol
These photos and stories are making some wonderful scrapbook material. I can’t wait to see more pics and hear even more about this awesome trip.
I especially love hearing about how meaningful the service was and how you had great opportunities for interaction with the people there. I keep thinking about the Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, who lived in Haarlem, not too far from where you are, in the early and middle years of the 20th century. She and her family were just ordinary people who lived out their faith consistently on a daily basis, and the Lord used their seemingly simple interactions in a great way that brought not only hope and healing to people in this life, but most importantly eternal life to so, so many.
“Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives, is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see.”
— Corrie ten Boom
Cherith, our home is not the same without. We miss you and can’t wait to see you!

I recommended it to my aunt who knows some guy at work that isn’t a christian and feels like he needs some scientifical/historical proof soooo she is going to look into getting him a copy of it and who knows? Maybeeee it will impact his life =]

Michael & Evan – We miss you. Thanks for the update and picture! You guys are doing such great things for God. 20 people for the first church service is great! I know we were all praying for 100, but just remember the people God wanted there showed up! Many more people know the church exists because of all you did there…we’ll never know how many people will eventually be drawn to Christ and to that church because of you.
It’s hard to believe you’ll be coming back in 2 days. Be ready for the HOT weather here! Summer has officially begun as of this morning so enjoy the cooler weather over there while you can! We had a good time yesterday at Aunt Doris’s with Grandmom & Grandpop for dinner. In the evening Uncle Glen, Aunt Cindi and all the boys except Ryan came over for a swim. This afternoon we’ll be meeting Grandmom & Grandpop L. in Lancaster at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord for lunch for my birthday, too bad you won’t be here to join us! Hope you enjoy your time in Amsterdam…plenty of WALKING I assume! Calah, that’s for taking some pictures for me. See you soon! Love, Mom
Great to hear about your Sunday service, and that everyone is doing well, and getting in shape with all of your walking! Twenty people is actually a great number for a start of a church. I am sure they will continue to have prayer support from all of you, and that will be a huge blessing to their church.
Ryan, we wish we could have been there to hear the song for the offering time. We miss your music!
We are eager to see all of you and hear all your stories when you get back on Wednesday night.
Great to hear from you Justin- you are greatly missed! P.s. The Taco Bell Grill is hot and ready for you! See you soon!
So I looked up “walking jokes” on google to try and be clever and make a funny about you guys having to walk everywhere…. but they were kinda disgusting… so sorry but no jokes for you. Im lame.

Have a nice day in Amsterdam!
And have a safe flight home!
Just a little extra encouragement the church actually had 36 with 9 new visitors that were not a part of their Friday night small groups… Not 100 but well on there way! With 18 of us, it was 54! People working at the Stay Okay that have seen us all week came to watch our dramas! Great vision, great worship and great message! This has been a great trip for me and the group!
Ally — We all miss you very much. As usual, Joey is lost without you. Thanks for the Father’s Day card & the shout out on the blog.
These updates have been wonderful to read. Everyone looks great and I look forward to hearing much more & seeing the many photos. You are all amazing, and the city of Masstrict will have been impacted by each of you and the message of the Word that you are sharing daily. You have planted the seeds to help Damascus Road International Church to continue to grow.
Have fun in Amsterdam!
Love,
Dad
