schoolWell. Sam lied. We are blogging tonight yes its after 2 AM and after 4 AM home time. It’s ok though because God pwned tonight.

We’ll start with this morning. We woke up at 6 a.m. and left at 7:34 for a church to present two dramas for the staff there. After that, we prayed for them and vise versa. We then chilled out for a while at the Hosanna Church playing Amazon Women, The Finger Jousting Game, and various jumping over various people. Variously. We then departed to the Christian Escuela near the dump. Some kids lived in houses along the dump. The kids there were very rambunctious yet receptive. A few dramas here and there… bada bing…. And the rest of the morning went blissfully. After the Escuela we drove through the dump. Wow what a sight. It was very hard for us to take in… some of the things we saw. After that we went to the mall for a bit then back to the Escuela. The second program consisted of mostly 12 to 14-year-olds. At the end of the program, we were given the opportunity to pray for the staff. Later, the ninos prayed for us. It was pretty much a prayer fest Jesus party el nino fiesta pwnage 101. Thing.

By the way, my elbow is jacked. Went a little overboard on the doctor skit. It swelled up tonight and then it exploded. They proceeded to amputate my arm. But it’s ok mom. I’m fine. Darth Jim. Fine. Everything’s fine.

Anyways, so much went on today. Tonight’s devotions started out great. Several team members shared their thoughts. Maryssa’s devotion consisted of a “foot-washing” illustration. Each team member was able to bless a friend by washing their feet(baby wipe style) and praying over them. It was a new experience that we all appreciated and cherished.

We have been up for the last couple hours playing a stupid game that doesn’t have a name… we are now going to call it “It is” and It is… a stupid game and we are all frustrated and most of us want to give up but we can’t. Don’t worry we will play it with you all when we get home.

Ian, can you bring the litle boy home with you? He is so cute. Wow, you get to stay another day. I am tired just reading the blog. Can’t wait to see how to play the new game. Not only are you blessing the people there, you are blessing each other. Love Gamme & Grandpa.

  2. Chris says:

We’re so happy that your trip is going so well and that you were able to arrange another day with the kids. “And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward” (Matthew 10:42) We know that none of you are there because of any reward you expect, but this verse just shows so clearly how the things you are doing are so close to Jesus’ heart, and we are so grateful that you can be a part of that. God bless you…

  3. From Robin Eschbach: Dear Erica,
This is your mother speaking. So proud of everything you are doing! We listened to your Ipod yesterday; and loved your choice of songs. Miss you bad. Love Mom ps just pulled out of the oven a strawberry/rhubarb pie, still warm. Tell me where I can send it.

    Tori,
We are glad that you are able to stay another day. Sounds like things are going great. Just a reminder – Thursday is malaria pill day for you, Bethany and Erica. Our movie night (Meet the Browns) with Brennemans, Eschbachs, Gonzales, Smiths and Wislockys went great. Grandma had a great time in Syracuse…the VBS went very well. Aunt Buffy and Emilia will be coming from Mexico next week. Dad had a good report from the eye Dr. We pray for you often. It is hard to believe you will be home in 3 days. Dad says “finish strong”.
    Love – Mom

Well, since you’re not coming back on Friday, I’m taking your sisters to Knoebels for the day. They need to do something. Jenna is at Eschbach’s house with Leah for the day. She is really looking forward to seeing you, so expect her to be there at the church greeting you no matter what time of day it is. Grace wants to tell you that she really wants you to come back so you can have fun with us. Had a Pampered Chef party at the house last night and I thought of you… you would have loved some of the kitchen gadgets. I pray the Lord’s protection and guidance for all of you! Stay encouraged! We love you, our Lady! Love, Mom, Dad, Jenna, Corinne, and Gracie

I know you all are probably seeing alot of new things, and I hope that you are using every moment to grow closer to God in your own lives as well as pointing the people you meet to focus their eyes on Him. I am so proud of all of you and I know that you can change the world around you! Hello Sweetness. Don’t worry about the battery going dead on your Scion (“Troy”) from lack of use. So far, I’ve got it up to 120 MPH, but that was as it fell off the side of that ravine. Just kidding! I actually cleaned off the mulberries and bird poop. (Can you say “poop” on a Christian blog?) I’ll even put 50 cents worth of gas in it before you return. Miss not having you here – Nicaragua’s gain is our loss. I want to hear lots of stories when you return. Love you and “always” soooooo proud of you! Old Dad p.s. what mustache?!

  17. sbrenneman says:

    Hey Bethany,

Mom and I heard rumors about you guys staying until Saturday, but we thought it was just that. We should have known if you had anything to do about it you could make it happen. We all know how you like to extend your outings! Brynlee did not believe me at first, she is looking foward to your return.

I had a knock on the door at 7:00 AM, grandpa and grandma locked themself out of the house this morning trying to chase the garbage truck down the street. So grandpa rode his bike to our house in his PJs to get a key. Its never boring with the two of them around.

Love you, Dad, Mom and Brynlee

  18. kopacfamily says:

    Hi Kari!!
Keep up the good work in Nicaragua! You are helping, learning, and teaching at the same time!! It seems like your team has been very busy! Judging by the time of the blog postings, you guys are having some late nights. I hope you find some time to sleep! ;) I can’t wait to see you on SATURDAY! As you hop off a plane from Nicaragua, you get to hop on a bus to wonderful NYC to see LBB, CB, and hopefully RB (third times a charm)! And, if you couldn’t already tell, I am way excited!! woohoo!! If you start to feel tired, just channel your inner Elle, “keep it positive,” and think of one of our favorite Legally Blonde/Emmett moments…”She’s got a chip on her shoulder. Guess you never can tell….(insert silly dance)…with little Miss Woods comma Elle” haha

    Love,
    Kopac comma JanELLE!
    (You know me…I couldn’t resist)

Thanks to the other Moms for the malaria meds reminder. I can’t believe it is going to be Thursday already. It seems like it was just last Thursday and I was kissing you goodbye. Try to get some sleep in between all the action. We’re still praying and are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Love you a whole bunch, Mom

We are missing you much — today we spent the day picking raspberries at Erica’s house and swimming at Hans’ house — just us girls! Missin’ you > > > Tonight Dad and I went to church to see your “video” — we were so blessed to hear your friends praying for you before the service. What a great youth group you are privileged to be a part of. In case you didn’t hear the other moms; don’t forget your malaria pill today! See you Saturday night! Hi Amanda…..I got the message that you are staying an extra day. I’m sure you got the hint to take your malaria pill so i won’t bother reminding you. Grammy and Pap say “Hi” and are praying extra hard this week for God’s best for you and the team. They miss you like crazy and are already trying to figure out when they can come over to see you. Pop Pop and Mom-Mom called tonight and told me to let you know you are on their minds and in their prayers. Grandma called from Texas to check on you also. Bet you didn’t know how much you are loved…..of course you know i miss you like crazy!!! Funny the laundry is just not piling up like it usually does…any idea why???? Can’t wait to read about your day tomorrow morning. I look forward to it every day. I hope you are getting plenty of rest and it sounds like there are at least some meals you are actually eating (ie. McDonalds:).

    All My Love,

    P. Jeff, Helena, Sam and the rest of the team,

Youth Service tonight was AWESOME, but we miss you guys like CRAZY!!! Jimmy did an awesome job speaking tonight. He was funny. I think everyone enjoyed his message and really realized how significant we are in God’s eyes. Remember to ask him about which domesticated animal is NOT mentioned in the Bible and which book of the Bible does NOT mention God anywhere… You could probably ask any youth who was in service and they would know, thanks to Jimmy!

Tristin and the Worship team did great and so did Jon Harris. We saw your video and had a few laughs. Some parents came back just to see the video. Erica, Ellie told me after service she started to cry when she saw you on the video. She misses you so much.

    P. Jeff: Summer (I hope I got the names right, your oldest daughter) showed me her bandaid on her finger and told me all about why she needed one. Too cute!!! Jailyn was there too. She had hurt her thumb and Amber was comforting her. Brooke was just smiling… You have a great family. I’m sure “all four” of your girls will be anxious to see you on Saturday :)

Blessings to you all, have a great last few days. We’re praying for you guys.

  29. olson says:

hey guys. It sounds like you are doing some awesome things and i know you’ll have more stories when you come home so rather telling about the past present of the future, ive been praying for you guys and know that you guys will be strong. Just think about that saying they say in war, “never leave a man behind”. If someone is tired lift them up because not one person can make the big difference but its the whole team working in unity. Pastor jeff. you dont have to say but i know whoever your juggling with just isnt as good or nearly good looking as me, so when you come back ill be here for ya. ha ha and burkey i love you. and miss ya. your awesome. do great things. live as if god werent there you’ll fail. kris. tom patterson. peter W. dont pick up to many chicks.
