Our First Day in the Islands Surrounded by the “TURKoise” Seas (Shayna & Brooke)
Posted by Brooke Sheesley in Missions
After many restless hours aboard a bus and two planes, we safely arrived at our final beautiful destination at around 1 PM today. After checking into our lovely hotel, many of us went for a swim in the pool. Soon after, we travelled a few minutes down the road to meet some members of the church we will be working with. We got to see their sanctuary and then we were given the opportunity to chow down on some delish’ food provided by the church members!
As we were chatting and eating our grub with the congregation members, Pastor Jeff was told he had the opportunity to speak on a popular radio show! We (Shayna & Brooke) and Aaron volunteered to join him and speak on the show ourselves! After being on the air and hanging out with some more of the islanders, we went to meet with people of a different AG church on the other side of the island. We prayed with men and women from Mexico, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and the Turks and Caicos Islands about the amazing works God has in store for the next few days. They are VERY excited that we have finally come to spread the love of Christ.
As this was going on, the rest of the gang had time to explore around the “hotel area”, swim, relax, and eat some ice cream! We ended the day with some prayer and discussion about tomorrow–we are all very exhausted because most of us got maybe an hour of sleep since yesterday tops.
Keep us in your prayers and tune in tomorrow for another update!

Hey Turks team,
It’s so good to hear that y’all made it down there safe and sound! I’m so happy that you had a great 1st day to start off the trip! I’m praying for you guys and girls and I’m so excited to see what all God has in store for all of you. Remember that you all are called there for a reason and purpose, even if it’s just to reach one person the kingdom of God rejoices and benefits. You are going to do amazing things for God, just stay open to all the blessings and opportunities He has in store for you! I hope you have a great day tomorrow and be blessed!
Love to all!!
Carolyn
It is almost one in the morning and I cant sleep! So thankful that you all made it safely. I’m thinking of you and praying that you will see our Lord move in great and powerful ways.
Jourdan, did your luggage arrive with you? Talked to dad today…he says he’s proud of you and he misses you. He will be home late Wed night from Ca.
okay…I just wanted to say a quick hi. Im praying for you all. Love you, Jourds!
What a great first day! So cool that you got to be on the radio! And you’re meeting so many new people, too. Maybe some of you will get to use a little of the Spanish that you’re learning?
Most of all, we’re excited to see all of the prayer that is going into the ministry that you’re doing. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matt. 18:20 Even when just two or three are gathered, our awesome, all-knowing, all-powerful God is right there with you working mightily through all that you do!
We love you, Cherith and all of you!
God bless you today and in every day that is ahead,
Mr. and Mrs. Danielewicz
P.S. Cherith, did you get your mom a Payday bar at the airport?
Great to hear that had a good trip! We are excited for all of you and will be praying for you every day. It looks like a great place and it is exciting to think about the opportunities you will have to work with the people and kids on the islands.
Take care and have a great day!
Ryan, we love you and are praying for you!

Hello Turkeys!!!! I was praying hard for you guys as you traveled. I jumped for joy when I heard you made your flight in Atlanta. I pictured 34 people booking it down the terminal, screaming EXCUSE ME!!!! Is that how it went?….Pastor Jeff, isn’t one of your wishes to be on a talk show or is it a game show? Anyway, I’m sure you, Shayna and Brooke had a great time doing it….I’m so proud of all of you. Serve, serve, and serve more. It is through our actions that many see Christ. Paul encouraged the Thessalonians on the great job they were doing in loving God and each other but challenged them to do it more. Take great care of each other in embracing all your similarities and differences. This is a God blessed trip for all of you to be there at this moment. He is waiting to do miraculous things through you. Stomp on fear and pride so Christ’s light and love may radiate through you……I love you guys!
We at CLA are so proud of you all for following God’s call. Many adults have never taken the challenge that you have committed to. Taking these steps in obedience will provide for many blessing from God himself. Expect God to BLOW YOUR MIND.
May God be the wind at your back to give you strength when you are exhausted and a voice of love and compassion as you minister to those that will be watching your lives.
” . . my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of TESTIFYING to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24

It is great to hear that everyone made it safely. The radio show sounds like a great experience. Keep working for Him!
Z Diddy- just wanted to let you know that Clyde is going around the house meowing, trying to find you. We closed your bedroom door at first, then realized it was a mistake after he just wouldn’t stop trying to get in (oh, and the fact that Belle was shut in there didn’t help matters). On a serious note, We want to let you know how proud we are of the stand you are making for Christ and for the lives that are going to change because of you. One day in Heaven, you will meet someone who looks vaguely familiar who comes up to you and says “Thank you for sharing Christ with me in the Turk Islands. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here. ” And then many more will come to you from all parts of the world that you have touched to say the same thing. You have an important job to do there, don’t forget. All of you do. No pressure or anything! Love you guys! Oh, and Tyler — you and Z had better behave!
I bet five bucks that the picture of everyone jumping into the pool was either Deanna’s or Troy’s idea.
Five bucks. =)
I love you D!!!
I love you too Troy!!!
