AlexandraYesterday kicked off with everyone going to two hospitals.  At the first hospital, we prayed over some children and then we went outside to do a few dramas. I must say, the kids enjoyed the lollipops we gave them. It was really amazing because quite a few people came up for prayer. There was one girl who had spinal problems that prevented her from walking. She was healed! Then we went to two more locations at the hospital. We came back to the casa to grab some grub and then we recorded a video to be shown at youth. Right after that we to a children’s hospital. There were several children to a room, so we each got into groups to pray in each room.  In Bethany, Tori’s, and my room, there was a guy who kept taking random pictures of them. He took about 30. It was VERY creepy.  After praying, we did two dramas in the hallway.  We prayed over a few people.  It was a great experience.

We returned to the casa yet again and cried like babies when we realized we had to split into teams and go separately for the evening activities.  We said “Bon voyage” and team 1 went to the Hosanna main church to do a youth service, while team 2 went to the church plant to do an adult service.

Team 1 was extremely excited to arrive at Hosanna main church and see all of the orphans again!  We hung out for a little while with them and then taught some of them Es Mi Rey.  Then Peter White preached. It was full of energy and it was fun to see our translator jump around and pretty much do everything Peter did.  We did three dramas for them.  They absolutely loved “Everything”.  Then we had an altar call.  For awhile no one came up.  First two boys came up, and then a few more and a few more. It ended in an amazing prayer time.  Then we ate dinner at a ridiculously good chicken restaurant.

Team 2 will update later.

Overall, the day was very productive. We were all dead tired when we returned so we crashed early for the night. Today we are starting the day off with a visit to a volcano then some zip lining. We will also be doing other things but I can’t remember what. So leave some comments.

And we will add a photo tonight too!!!!
We miss you guys!!!

    To the “quints”-

Yo boys, thanks for the shout out. And in return, “Get some.”

To Fergie- CLA white is currently on an 8 game win streak. Unfortunately, we have had some injuries. Matt Graham hasn’t made the last few games and Scottie McClintock tore his bicep in half, hyper-extended is elbow, and dis-located his shoulder Tuesday night. So we are a little short on 3Bs. But with only two games left (Tonight and Next Tuesday), we might just make the number one seed.

To Simon- you are the man.

Deac- Playing racquetball with my cousin Kris Walker tomorrow. Will try the overhand slice in your honor.

Swish- Marcus Camby was traded to the Clippers. Elton Brand signed with the Sixers. And James Posey signed with the Hornets.

Our boy Rich sang Sunday. Seth Franco is apparently the new Youth Pastor at Monroeville. And I’m feeling the Batman movie either Saturday night or Sunday. Let me know.

    Do work Quints,
    Trev

    Hey everyone. [:

It’s Jordan. I’ve been depriving myself from the internet at home but finally have given in and just read all your blogs. I had faith that God would do miracles, and it is so glorious to see that He is just blessing your lives and the ones you invest in around you.

Anyway, to not be cliche: I got a job. At Trindale Bowl. And I don’t know why but I felt lonely not having to tell Kari what happens in my life everyday. Haha.

Kari, best friend, comrade, hero of many: I miss you and sadly I can’t see you on Saturday because I WORK FROM 6:30PM to 1 AM IN THE MORNING. Though it is nice not to hear about the Jonas Brothers.

Shayna: I miss you but more importantly someone else you know misses you alot, too. -winkwink-

    Annie: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

    Bonnie: SOOOO GOOD!

Amanda: I hope your tyedye is holding out, you dirty hippie.

Laura: I wore our tyedye on Wed. night. You weren’t there. I cried.

Maryssa: I miss you, friend. Alot. And your advice. I’m in a drought without you love.

Everyone else, eh. I know you all are fine.

I wish I had something witty to say rather than just typing. Hmm. Oh well.

LOVE you;;(because semi-colons are better than commas)

  14. Hi everyone
It has been awesome reading the daily logs of each day. God definitely has been working through all of you and we are excited to hear more of the stories.

Just a note for those who haven’t caught on, yes there was and still is a ghost writer for us but this is the real thing. I have been recooping from surgery and I am doing good.

Matt, we are soooo proud of you and may this last day be one of your best days yet. Allow the Lord to do mighty things in and through your life.

Peter, it sounds like you are having the time of your life. We believe the Lord is working in you also and showing you the path he wants you to take after college.

We sure do miss both of you. Boy is it quiet around here. Elizabeth has been a big help around here since I couldn’t do too much. As the ghost writer has mentioned, Eric has been around enough to make up for your absence.

P Jeff, Helena, Sam, Amy and the rest of the leaders, thanks for taking time out of your lives and spending time with the youth. As you can tell, all of them (even those at home) think very highly of you and appreciate you.

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Got to go before my arm swells. Love you lots.

    Mamma Burkey

  15. We are praying for the team and really enjoy reading about how God is using each one in ministry. Ryan, I hope you are having a great trip, and I am eager to see you Saturday night! We really miss you and are very glad you have this opportunity to serve on this missions trip.

    Dad

    Chelsea,
I was very sad that you are not feeling well. I went to the youth service Wed. just to see you on the video and you weren’t on it. Are you okay? I have been worried about you, but I know that you are in good hands. Please get rest, drink plenty of water and eat!!!

I am sure that the kids in Nicaragua just love you and that you are making such a difference in their young lives. God has a plan for you and I know that you are working for Him. Stay strong and be bold! We love and miss you very much. We can’t wait to see you on Saturday and hear all about your trip.

    Love you,
    Mom

  17. Hey Lady! I heard you were on the video Wed night, but I missed it. I started to tear up about that. How I would have loved to see your face. Mrs Eschbach kept trying to reach me on my cell, but it was dead. No surprise there!! Jenna got to see you and told us that you had just received your luggage that day. How you managed with just 3 sets of clothes I’ll never know. Hee! Hee! HEe! That cracks me up. I’m sure you were a trooper. Daddy is lying on the sofa dead off his feet from a 10 hour day of work with Mr Williams; he wants me to tell you he loves you. We decided not to go to Knoebles tomorrow because it’s supposed to be 95 degrees, so we’ve decided it would be better to wait until you came home. Praise God about the healing of that little girl. That must have been exciting and powerful to watch. God is good! All the time!! Cant wait to see you. I’m dying to know of all your experiences. Hi Bethany and Erica!!
    Love you lots, MOM

    Hey Everybody!

I wanted to let you know that it has been awesome to read your updates everyday. Hearing about Nicaragua and everything you’re doing reminds me of when I went a few years ago with Pastor Jeff. I just wanted to write a little encouragement for you before your trip ended. God is fashioning each one of you in a unique way and this was one of those trips that will change you significantly and stick with you. Before you leave, take it all in! Take mental note of the things you’ve seen, people you’ve met and the places you’ve been…. and never forget it!

I have been praying that God reveals himself to each one of you in a real way. It’s encouraging to know that God has used you to make a difference in Nicaragua and will continue to do so.

    Finish Strong….

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7

Hey guys, in the group photo why the gloomy faces? You guys are on fire for the Lord! I would have expected jumping up and down and huge smiles. Perhaps, it is because you have only one day left. We are so proud of you Ian and your williness to serve. God will continue to use you in a mighty way. The first thing you need to do when you get home is clean you room and mow Mary’s grass. HA HA Just Kidding! Grandpa mowed Mary’s grass yesterday and your room isn’t that bad. John is arriving at the BWI airport from Colorado at about 10:50 pm Saturday night on Southwest Airlines. You may see him there. Grandpa is picking up John and I will be picking you up at CLA. Can’t wait to see you. Love Gamme
