Hope to see you there! We would like to wish all students and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. Let us acknowledge and be thankful for all the blessings our Father in heaven has graciously given us. There will be no Frequency on Wednesday, November 26. Instead, join us in the Main Sanctuary for our annual Thanksgiving Communion Service at 7:00 PM. Come join Frequency and several other youth groups in the area for an amazing night of praise and prayer at Mechanicsburg Brethren In Christ Church from 7-9:30m. This is a great opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and enter into the presence of God in fellowship with the many diverse youth groups in the area. God is beginning to outpour on this generation… Now is the time that we go forth in boldness and experience the overflow of our Father. If you need a ride, call the church at 717-635-7230. Meet at the Youth Center at 6:15p. Great Escape this year was awesome! Pastor Chris Gilkey spoke with a purpose in mind… to spark the fire inside of this generations hearts. Pastor Chris has a heart that is after God. His transparency displayed while giving his testimony and while sharing his heart really allowed all of us to feel as though Pastor Chris was on a personal level with all of us. He didn’t hold anything back, and he let God lead him in every aspect of the weekend. We came hungry and desperate for God. We were in a mindset ready to receive anything that God would throw at us. And He most certainly did throw A LOT at us. On Friday night, Pastor Chris encouraged us with a verse from Matthew: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. The presence of God was so strong in that place, and the more we sought after God, the more he began to speak and manifest himself. God came in a mighty way at the Saturday night session. He was moving in such a powerful way during worship because people were hungry. They wanted more, and they got more. Pastor Chris then informed us that God had other plans for this service, so he basically abandoned what he was going to speak about and began leading us farther into God’s presence. There had already been about a dozen or more salvations on Friday night, now during this night over 20 people were baptized in the Holy Spirit and over 30 people responded to their ministry calling. God began to manifest himself and the place was filled with the presence and fire of God. During that night there was even a physical healing for Troy Sinclair. It was an amazing and awe inspiring moment that caused us to become so desperate for more of God. I believe that Harriet Benkovich described the event of this night the best: “You could barely tell what color the carpet was.” God came and overwhelmed many. We got a taste of what a life consumed by God is like. Now, I ask those of you who attended this retreat… Did it change you? Are you Living Different?, Or are you still the same? God calls us to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2). So… are you different?, or are you still conforming to the ways of this world? God calls us to be different and to stand out. Don’t put God to the backburner, he will not accept that ever. He demands that we follow him and live for him. He wants us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (LIVE DIFFERENT!) so that we may prove what the will of God is. If we live different, Gods perfect and pleasing will shall be shown and completed in us. If you want more of God, then this is your call to LIVE DIFFERENT! …But if you just want a lukewarm existence, then you’re in a dangerous position. For God’s Word says “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” No one wants that… Now is your time shine. We are the chosen generation. Now it’s time for you to make a choice… Well we started off with a J-Jam favorite, Octopus! It was a great game besides one of the girls getting owned in the face by a leader that shall remain nameless. Then to dodgeball which was fun, as always. We split the girls and guys and each team from the girls side got to pick one guy to join them. It was a great game even though all the guys won. Then we went to the youth center to play the pick up a paper bag with your mouth while standing on one foot and leaning down game. HAHA I didn’t know what to call it so that’s its name now. That was great, get em Isaiah Seilhammer!! Then we took a Disney quiz. Pretty fun. Then to our gross out game, mustard, banana, apple, and rice cake sandwiches. So Good!!!! NOT! But that was J-Jam this week. The standings are as follows… 1st Place: Jugular-1,143,500 2nd Place: Tibiofibula-1,233,500 3rd Place: Metacarpal-1,123,500 4th Place: Illiac-1,087,000 4 more weeks to go!!! Trivia Question What is the largest mountain in the Universe? Bonus Points: How tall is it? Our theme this year at Great Escape is “Live Different” and the first service broke the ice for sure. If we can ever get these kids to go to sleep maybe we can rest some. All of the luggage made it this time and I think we are prepared for a great weekend. Chris told his testimony tonight of his path to salvation and into ministry, including his daughter’s healing from a snake bite and a meeting with God on the bathroom floor. We had a quick alter call followed by the traditional Great Escape pizza dinner and some dodge ball and fellowship. We have an early morning tomorrow and we’re praying the rain doesn’t ruin the plans for flag football… Maybe they will still let us do the zipline in the rain(would never compair to Nicaragua) We are all safe and sound pray for us as we plan to start and progress our lives forward. Why don’t they just sleep…
But anyway, that is a recap from last week and here are the updated scores. 1st place – Tibiofibula 948,000 2nd place – Jugular 874,500 3rd place – Iliac 860,000 4th place – Metacarpal 840,000 Trivia question What did you see in every scene of the announcement video this week other than Aaron and Nick? Score Report: 1st - Tibiofibula: 825,000 2nd - Iliac: 770,500 3rd - Jugular: 758,500 4th - Metacarpal: 734,500 This week’s J-Jam was awesome. This week we played a J-Jam favorite, Steal The Bacon. This intensely physical game brought out the competitive side of both the boys and the girls of each team. We saw extreme action determination as each team fought it out for the “bacon.” The added element of having Mike Brubaker in the center created a whole new element, and make definitely learned just how crazy the J-Jamers are. The continued on as we moved on to our next game, The Chariot Race, and then our final physical game, The Balloon Relay Race. After this, we moved on to a great lesson led by our commissioner, Matt Burkey, and our co-commissioner, Aaron Stewart. They taught us about joy and how we can have joy with God even through the most difficult and hard times we may face. God is forever with us, and his gift of salvation is our wellspring of joy. The day concluded with our last two gross out events. First, Mason deFilippo was transformed into a human hot dog. Several bottles of ketchup, mustard, and relish were poured upon his head, and then to finish the job off, two cans of chili and a bag of sauerkraut were poured onto him. When this was over, we moved onto our final game called Kiddie Swim. The object of this game was to search for objects in a kiddie pool filled with a mystery substance in it. You had to find marbles, spoons, and rubber bands all with your feet. It was a good gross time. Well that’s it for this weeks J-Jam Update J-JAM… yeah, it’s just that good BE THERE! Trivia Question What president gave the longest inaugural speech (close to two hours) without wearing a coat and died shortly after from pneumonia? We started J-Jam off by playing doctor dodgeball, team Jugular and Tibiofibula were pretty awesome at that game. After a few rounds of dodgeball we headed up to the youth center for a wheelbarrow race. For the wheelbarrow race the students had to pick up various items off the floor to get points for their team. Aaron Stewart gave a devotion about peer pressure and then the teams broke up into small groups to answer some questions about the devotion. After the devotion we had the gross out game – mystery grenades. At the core of the grenades were 5 fruit wise/smack/slaps bunched up into one, then wrapped in plastic wrap and inside two balloons. The students first needed to unwrap the ballons, then the plastic wrap and then eat the fruit wise/smack/slaps. The overall team scores: 1st Tibiofibula – 639,000 2nd Jugular – 598,500 3rd Metacarpal – 583,500 4th Iliac – 569,000 Trivia Question: Who is the oldest pitcher to start in a NLCS game (Baseball)? |
