this past week was the frequency christmas party. we had tons of fun watching funny youtube videos and eating our fattening fast food. we gave out prizes for the best dressed in the following categories: dressy, tacky, or comfy. Some showed up in footie pajamas, others as presents and christmas trees, we were even graced by the big man himself! SANTA! I KNOW HIM!

we played a interesting rendition of amazon women, called reindeer roundup. The guys who played had to put these antlers made of pantyhose on their heads and get on all fours. Next the elves (aka the girls) had to round the reindeer up by dragging them out of their pen. It was very entertaining to watch.

we then played a trivia game for all the book-smart people in the crowd. and pulled up a panel of people up front to answer christmas questions. they included cj bible, katie ulrich, and lisa delafield. If they didn’t know the answer, they could ask the audience… we would have to write down what we thought the correct answer was and crumple it up into a snowball and lob at them.

heyyy [:

hope your weeks been a good one so far!

Things at Frequency have been a blast... to start off,  Freak out Friday at Frequency, was disguisting to say the least! Pumpinks filled with junk, gross blender games, and kiddie pools filled with even more crap.

At Fusion Middle School, we played the shoe game where all the kids graced us with the smell of their unwashed feet. Once all their shoes were in a pile in the center of the room, we sent them all in to retrieve them. simultaneously. hectic, as you can imagine.

J-jam was crazy. At the beginning, we played Octopus. always a treat. Next we moved onto a intense game of dodgball. Amazon women was to follow with the few guys we had. Pastor Jan spoke on facing your fears.  We fought our fears by writing them down and throwing them at a giant chicken… who was pretty intimidating himself.

Next week is Hippie Day!! Your question this week is: When did the hippie movement begin? Teams, please leave your answer in a comment.  First one to answer gets 1,000 points [: Be sure to leave your team name otherwise you won’t get credit.

Youth Group is tonight. Bring your Fobs!! We will hopefully have the computer by next week!

peace out

Harrisburg Invasion Block PartyHey everyone!! I apologize for this delayed post, but y’all must know about the awesome week we had at Harrisburg Invasion ‘09!!! Last Tuesday the 14th, a group of us unloaded at Harrisburg First Assembly of God to launch a week of community service and friendship evangelism. Over 10 other youth groups, 150 kids in all, gathered together for worship with the Michael Gungor Band, who was with us all week long. Every morning, we’d get bussed into various parts of the city to do everything from mulching, VBS, daycares, and soup kitchens. In the afternoons, we’d canvas the city by passing out free sodas and cards promoting the big block party that was at the end of the week at Marshall Elementary. All of this was packed with great opportunities for the kids to form relationships and have conversations with the people of the neighborhoods while demonstrating a very Christ-like character. Although it was very tiring every day, God was so good to refresh us with a good word and worship session every morning and every night. All of the kids have returned fired up for local missions. As we continue to pray for the Greece team, let’s also remember that there is much to be done right in our back yards! Please pray that the seeds we planted in the lives of these people would continue to be watered and matured.

Here are some shots from the Block Party last Saturday. It’s estimated that about 7000 people showed up to this event! It was packed with games, health fair, job fair, concerts, pony rides, you name is. All FREE!!! Many were touched with the love of Christ! Praise God!

Hey all!

Hannah here, back from youth camp!! If you didn’t go, you missed out!! On Monday, 18 of us headed to Philip Bongiorno Conference Center in Carlisle for a 4 day summer camp experience! The week was packed with crazy fun, quality relationships, and spiritual challenges!

The typical day looked something like this:
8:00am breakfast (french toast sticks! mm..)
9:00am devotions
9:30am “Drivers Ed” morning service
11:00am Bible quizzing (our passage for the week was 1 Corinthians 12)
12:00pm lunch (chicken nuggets!)
1:00pm team games (dodgeball, tug of war, pool games… you name it!)
5:00pm dinner (turkey!)
7:00pm night service with Mike Holt
11:00pm team games

Everything about the week was intense – spiritually and actively. The speaker for the week was Mike Holt – a hilarious Georgia boy! With his southern twang, crazy stories, and spiritual challenges, everyone left camp ten big leaps in their walks with the Lord! I lot of garbage was thrown out of students’ lives, and then replaced with an equipping of power and authority. Leaders and ambassadors were raised by the hundreds guys!! Praise the Lord for his very personal intervention!

The week was loaded with FUN. The 500 students that went were divided up into 16 teams. Twice a day, there would be team games and competitions to rack up the points. Games included tug-of-war, dodgeball, sharks and minos, and relays involving disorientation and garbage cans over your head (very hard to explain… find me and I’ll explain. I haven’t laughed this hard in so long!!)

There were plenty of other opportunities to win points though… Our rooms were checked everyday for cleanliness and decorations, and awards for best and worst were announced. The first day, my girls’ room won best room!! But then, to top it off, Tom’s room got worst!! haha… go CLA!! The week’s passage for Bible quizzing was 1 Corinthians 12 (on spiritual gifts). We did our best on to study up… but quizzing was definitely not our forte.. Tom’s team went from last place, good job boys! And I’m ashamed to say the girls teams got 13th and 14th place… boo hoo.

The afternoons were free time, yay! PennDel has so so so much to do! Of course a pool, golf course, volleyball, tetherball, four square, basketball, the works! A lot of us got go to Sports Emporium for one of the free time sessions and dominated in go carts and laser tag.

I had such a great time this week. You would be missing out if you don’t mark your calendars for this next year y’all!! Not only is it fun, but you are guaranteed to leave spiritually stronger and confident! Have a great weekend everyone!! Turk team returns tomorrow!! Thanks for all your prayers and support!

Sunday night, over 80 students made a commitment to remain pure and to abstain from sexual activity until marriage. It was awesome to see the overwhelming amount of adults there ready to support each student as they entered into this phase of their life. The night started with Pastor Wayde delivering an opener where he encouraged the students about their decisions. The night then transitioned to a time of worship and praise where everyone focused on the Lord. After Amber and Pastor Jeff delivered a a heartfelt message, Nick Brinson performed an awesome monologue that caused each person to consider the depth of their relationship with God. Finally, the night ended with every student saying the pledge out loud and their families supporting and praying over their children.

This night was a victory won against the constant attack of the devil on our society. Our society tells us that it is unrealistic to wait to have sex until marraiage, but God says that all things are possible with Him. We have pledged our lives to Live Pure. Now the real journey begins…
