Don’t forget missions dinner t…Posted by Sam Cornwell in Announcements, Missions, tags: TwitterDon’t forget missions dinner this weekend! We will still be having the J-Jam skating party, even though it is snowing, the roads are still clear. See u there!!! Our theme this year at Great Escape is “Live Different” and the first service broke the ice for sure. If we can ever get these kids to go to sleep maybe we can rest some. All of the luggage made it this time and I think we are prepared for a great weekend. Chris told his testimony tonight of his path to salvation and into ministry, including his daughter’s healing from a snake bite and a meeting with God on the bathroom floor. We had a quick alter call followed by the traditional Great Escape pizza dinner and some dodge ball and fellowship. We have an early morning tomorrow and we’re praying the rain doesn’t ruin the plans for flag football… Maybe they will still let us do the zipline in the rain(would never compair to Nicaragua) We are all safe and sound pray for us as we plan to start and progress our lives forward. Why don’t they just sleep…
Details you might want to know: We have extended our stay an extra day and are going to be home on Saturday evening (for more info check back tomorrow). We are going to try to skype in to Frequency tomorrow night. Here is a satellite view of the church we are working with (Link). AND McDonald’s in Nicaragua tastes the same as in the states. Check back tomorrow…er… later today for a recap of the day. The picture is from after yesterday’s weeding extravaganza.
The 10 that had the straight flight from Atlanta to Managua also had a full flight. The difference was they unfortunately were given first class tickets and had steak for dinner with real silverware. Well enough of that… i’m not bitter at all…because that sunset was amazing!!! Tomorrow we have an early morning with breakfast at 7AM. Followed by some street ministry with a church plant and a visit to a hospital with a youth service tomorrow night. A bunch of people are crowded around me (Kris, Amanda, Kari, Shayna..) and they all say hi. We are 2 hours behind, so it is only 11:45 here but 1:45 to us. Sleep tonight will be good. We are meeting and then crashing. Keep us in prayer! We are praying for you too!
When we pray to be a great team and to come together, maybe he does that by giving us a rough road. The team has been great, they have come together and through the frustration grown closer. Their attitudes have been amazing, last night we had a prayer meeting and devotions and everyone is in good spirits ready to “Change the World!” The real update: We will be flying out of Atlanta on 2 flights, 20 of us will be flying out at around 2:30 PM and the other 10 at about 5:00 PM. The 2:30 flight connects in Texas, so we will both arrive in Managua, Nicaragua at the same time. We couldn’t get our luggage last night, but thanks to the Panama team’s luggage issues most students were prepared for this, and we all have our team shirts in our carry-on’s so we are good to go! Everyone says Hi!
Again, we ask that everyone back home pray for us as we travel today and that we as a team can come together and be a great witness to everyone in Nicargua that we will be ministering too this week. We will try to post again in Atlanta if we have any more news. |
