Last night at Frequency we had Retro Night. It was fantastic! Everyone dug through their parents’ closets for the sweetest outfit. There was an abundance of crazy wigs and tie-die shirts. Everyone had a chance to display their wardrobe in the Frequency Fashion Show. Bright lights, long runways, and energetic commentators were a large part of this event. After worship from Joe and the crew, Pastor Jeff introduced the opportunity to become a Junior Member of CLA. This is a great chance to become an integral part of the church and serve in different ministries. Then he explained why we should be “Purple Cows” to others around us. He did all this in a fantastic plaid suit. We are looking forward to next week’s Frequency’s Got Talent. We want to see your amazing skills on display next week. See ya then!

We kicked off our High Energy Challenge this Wednesday night.  Everyone was dressed in green and we had an exciting putting green challenge.  Each team picked two guys and two girls, and they saw how many putts each team could make in one minute.  Pastor Jeff then spoke about how we always think that the grass is greener on the other side.  We want everyone to be excited about next week’s Slam Dunk Contest.  The color for next week is yellow.  See ya then!

After another week of J-Jam, the McFlurry Fury are still in front.  After determining a winner of the spirit day contest, we started off with a game of Mat Ball, then transitioned to Dodgeball.  Zach Ferguson gave a devotion on temptation and we split into small discussion groups.  We finished with the very popular Gross Out Game.  Next week’s spirit week is Hillbilly Day, so find those overalls and straw hats for Tuesday.  See ya then!!!

This Wednesday night, we had an awesome service.  Pastor Jeff talked about stepping out of your comfort zone and doing things that feel uncomfortable to you.  At the end of the service, many students made a live pure pledge.  As a youth ministry, we want to stick out for God everywhere we go.  So next time you don’t feel comfortable doing something, do it anyway.

As we all know, the Steelers and Cardinals are playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday.  If you need a fun place to watch the game and hang out with friends, you can come to our party this year at the Burkey’s house. The address is 114 Ewe Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. We are asking everyone to bring a snack or a drink for the group to share. You can pick up a flyer for this event on Sunday. Directions can be found on the flyer or you can Google the address.  Be sure to wear clothes representing your favorite football team!

Last week, we started off the night with a few up beat Christmas songs to get us all into the Christmas season.  Wednesday was our last week of an official service until 2009. Next week is our Frequency BYOFF, Bring Your Own Fast Food Christmas Party. On that note, come to our New Year’s Eve Party… it will be a blast! Pastor Jeff continued the service with an inspiring message about our futures and the different goals we have. Then he gave a powerful altar call and many people responded. We are excited to see these young people spread out into the world around us and make an impact for Jesus.

This Wednesday, we had an amazing guest speaker. Pastor Shane, from Florida, came all the way up here to speak words of life into our youth group. He is a dynamic speaker who feeds off his comical stories to deliver a convicting message. His sermon on “Breakthrough” is a good message to lead into our upcoming 300 night, which is set for October 29th. As a youth ministry, we are encouraged to go out into this world and make a difference.  We are called by God and we have his strength and power everywhere we go. Take advantage of every opportunity so we don’t waste the anointing that God has placed on our lives.

J-Jam is an after school ministry where middle school students can come and compete in various games and competitions.  This awesome opportunity occurs every Tuesday, from 3pm-5pm.  As we kicked off the J-Jam season, we had over 40 jr high students involved in an epic semester-long battle.  It will be interesting to see the weeks go along and watch who comes out on top.  At the end of week one, these are the current standings.
