Hola from Nicaragua! Jenna & Corinne here. We safely arrived to this beautiful country yesterday around noon-ish. After settling into our rooms, we traveled to our translator, Abdias’ church. The ride there was…interesting. Did you know that the roads in Nicaragua are extremely bumpy?! Lucky for us, we have one amazing bus driver. He can literally do anything; from squeezing through a crowded street half our bus’s size to going in reverse for multiple blocks. He’d be a great cab driver in NYC. We arrived at the church and performed a few of our dramas for their congregation. They really enjoyed it all! P. Jeff preached it up and we had an awesome time of prayer and fellowship with the people there. Because of our sleep-deprived day, many of us attempted to sleep on the ride back to our camp. That….was a little bit un-successful. SO BUMPY! After a yummy dinner of McDonalds and a great night’s sleep we took on our second day here. Breakfast this morning consisted of pop-tarts, cereal, and milk-in-a-bag (Weird, I know.) Then we headed out for a very adventurous day. We traveled to a small village of people that had been kicked out of their previous homes to do a food distribution program. We all split up into groups and walked around handing out food to the houses and praying for the families that lived in them. The roads there were not bumpy…they were MUDDY. We trudged through the lovely mud in the scorching Nicaraguan heat. Our sneakers got destroyed. But! We got the amazing opportunity to give the people their food to last them throughout the week. As Leah and I (Corinne) said: “We became one with the mud!” Then we ate lunch at one of the house’s there. Jenna’s first PB&J sandwich! (We got a picture.) After lunch, we headed over to another village to put on a service. All the little kids and adults absolutely loved our stomp, dramas, and dances. We got the opportunity afterwards to pray with many of the people and handed out candy and silly bandz to the little kids! After that amazing time, we drove to the orphanage. We were all so ready and excited to go there. While there, we got to meet and play with all the kids. They were so fun and SO adorable! We jumped rope, painted nails, played soccer, and watched Toy Story in Spanish! It was a really great time. After playtime we ate dinner that the cooks at the orphanage made. Toquitos and cole slaw! “It was delish!” says Jenna. After dinner we said our goodbyes until tomorrow. On the ride home an intense game of “King of the Bus” took place. This is when three people stand in the middle of the bus isle and have to balance without touching anything. As you can imagine, this was extremely difficult on the BUMPY roads. Leah was the Queen of the bus today! After arriving back at camp, we all sprinted to the showers. We then got together for a time of fellowship and prayer with the Ohio team. Also, we had a birthday party for Ryan! We even got a cake! (and we were introduced to the Latin American version of Happy Birthday by P.Jeff) It was a great time. This country is so beautiful and we are so looking forward to the days ahead and what God has in store! Adios!

Thanks so much for the update, girls. It is nice to hear such a descriptive play by play. Helps us feel like we’re there with with you. Your positive attitudes towards your adversity are a blessing and a challenge for us to do the same. Way to believe that “all things work together for good!”

Aaron – love you lots. Wondering about your new sneakers since you have had the opportunity to become “one with the mud.” I’m believing that either you definitely brought othersalong and you’re wearing them or your new ones are now a nice shade of brown. If they’re a nice choclatey brown as reflectd in the pix of the mud above, I’m believing that you are so blessed by the kiddos and other people you encounter that you very fav sneakers (that you waited very patiently for) are of no signifigance at all in comparison to the joy of walking in God’s will. Love you – Mom.

Blessings, safety, and sweet dreams to all of you from the McClintocks.

  11. Hey Katie Siplivy….

Well let me say I MISS YOU! so does Angel. she goes into your room every morning standing there looking around and comes back out w/sad eyes. max, well he just happy as long as he can chew his feet and bite his toenails. it was so nice to finally have a detailed update. sounds like you’ve been busy blessing others. i wish i could have been at the orphanage w/you. dad misses you too (and mom of course). he’s so funny…he checks the blog it seems like every hour and says “well their’s still no update”. when you left he was checking you flight pattern and updates about every half hour. we’re all so glad and proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone to follow God’s calling on your life at this time. it’s better to be uncertain about some things and know you’re in God’s will then to be comfortable and know that’s not were you’re to be. Satan sure didn’t want you to go!! i hope you’re feeling better about things and are enjoying every moment. focus on learning God’s voice in your life. its different for everybody. i think the sooner you learn that, the much better you’ll be thru out life. i had a really really really bad headache yesterday that i just couldn’t get under control so mom took me to holy spirit yesteday. they gave me the same treatment they did at Hershey (toradol, decadron, & depakote iv). this time it only took us 4 hours rather than the 12 hours at hershey. they were so nice! we made it home in time for mom & dad to still go see a movie at their favorite place…the west shore theater. when i was laying in the hospital i was thinking about you and praying for you every minute!! i went to be early last night, about 9pm and yes i’ve been sleeping in your bed….it’s just so comfortable. i’m planning to go over to chris & tia’s tonight after work to check out the arbonne stuff she sells, i’d like to get a better moisterizer. i hope we get to hear from you at some point, but in not that ok you’ll have lots to tell us when you get home….I love you and am praying for you.

Pastor Jeff…i’m also praying for your wisdom and guidance w/this crazy group of wonderful kids :)

Zachary – Aunt Tricia and I were up Tuesday Morning (2:30AM) praying for you and the CLA team. Dad was up Wednesday morning about the same time praying for all of you. I know your loving way will show through to the people especially to the children. I know they will see the Jesus in you. Have I mentioned how proud Dad and I are of you? Dad said to tell you he is almost done with the SUP board and it is ocean worthy. You know just in case…….
(He said you would know what that means.) How are the new hiking shoes? Are they embracing the mud? Please take lots and lots of pictures and use lots and lots of sunscreen. In case you are wondering, I am handling this only child, never been away for a long period of time, no less in a foreign country thing pretty good as I know this was God designed and you and the entire CLA team are in the palm of His hand.
    We love you Zachary boy,
    Mom and Dad
P.S. Thank you girls for the detailed info

Thanks, Jens. I loved hearing from you. So proud of you. That mud picture reminds of what I went through when I went hiking with daddy on Mt. Allen. Good boot-sucking mud. By the way, you used to eat pb and j all the time when you were little. So proud of your great attitudes and your willingness to go the extra mile for others. Love you so much. Sayhi to everyone. We continually lift you all up in prayer. Dad sends his love and Grace says hola. Just so you have peace of mind….I personally delivered your homework to the high school. love you. Mommy!

Hi Everyone. Awesome blog! Kaitlyn, how are your sneakers holding up??? I was just at Olive Garden w/ Nana and the kids and we saw Amy there so I gave her your English paper to take back with her to school–so you know it’s in good hands :) We miss you and Daddy so much! Daddy told me a little about what you have seen and all I can say is “wow…” I can not wait to hear how God has used you guys and the whole team and to hear how He has worked in your lives as well! I love you to the moon and back! Dave, I miss you tons and so do the kids–but only 3 days til the beach, so we can have something to distract us til I pick you up! I am getting ready to attempt to mow the yard, but don’t know if I will even be able to start the tractor… I love you to the moon and back!

We are praying for the whole team and you all are always on my mind! Love, Jen

    Corinne,
I am so proud of you. The nurse in me knew the medicine bag would come in handy for everyone. They say mud is good for your skin, and the moisture in the air should be great for your hair and complexion. Trina is here with me. We went to see Willy Wonka this morning. It was great….except the spot light guy overslept, uh… Philip.
Trina says have fun. Morgan has a very loose tooth and just wanted to see Uncle Phil today. Trina just reminded me about your AP work. I will take that up to CC now.
All is well. Peace and Prayers, Momma P
